We Americans love beating the crap out of bad guys unless we're blowing them up into tiny bits first.

"How barbaric!" I hear you say. "Isn't that why people in other countries think we're such war-mongers?"

Oh please.

You'll find that some of those "other countries" make the most thrilling and creative action movies imaginable!

Like the ones made in Hollywood, international movies are often pure escapist fun. But since they are the product of the culture in which they were produced, other countries have their own ways of filming shoot-outs, fist fights, and outrageous vehicle collisions.

Some directors are subtle and sensitive, while others might have been on crack over the entire course of their shooting schedules (or lives).

So as you're getting accustomed to subtitles, let's accept the universal truth that people all over the world, regardless of race, class, education, and underwear size, appreciate the sight of a good on-screen ass-kicking!
