At this ever-growing website, and in plain English, I review foreign films that you'll probably like but are missing out on. Since there are a variety of tastes out there, I'll do what few, if any, of the other critics do:

After each review, I make a judgment call as to what kind of person would most likely enjoy the film in question. Some will blow you away, while others might just blow.

Perhaps you've never seen a foreign movie in your life, or maybe you hang out at the video store too much. Whatever the case, keep in mind that these things are like international beers: there's something for everyone!

Word of advice before proceeding:

You'll find that international movies usually require you to think, even the action-packed, high octane shoot-em-ups. Why? Because unlike Hollywood, the majority of foreign filmmakers know you're not an idiot.

This is a sign of respect!

A film that expects more thinking from its audience is more satisfying and fun to watch.
